Opportunity At Your Disposal (2)
Please come with me to read this story of a man who made use of his last opportunity at his disposal. Take a thought over it and God bless you for your action!DR.ALEXANDER DUFF’S APPEAL:
Dr. Alexander Duff (1806-1878) was a great veteran missionary to India, he returned to Scotland to die, and as he stood before the General Assembly of the Presbyterian Church, he made his appeal for missionary volunteers to India, but there was no response.
In the midst of his appeal he fainted and was carried off the platform. When, he opened his eyes,
He cried, “Where am I?”, “Where am I?”
“Lie still”, said the doctor. “You have had a heart attack. Lie still”
“But I have not finish my appeal”, “Take me back. I must finish my appeal” said the great missionary.
“Lie still” said the doctor again, “You will go back at the peril of your life”.
But in spite of the protests of the physician, the old warrior struggled to his feet and, with the doctor on one side and the moderator of the assembly on the other side, he again mounted the steps of the platform, and, as he did so, the entire Assembly rose to honors him. He continued his appeal.He said,
“When Queen Victoria calls for volunteers for India hundreds of young men respond, but when King Jesus calls, no one goes”
When there was no response again, he stepped out again to go back again and die in India. This really touched the whole Assembly sprung to their feet, crying,
“I’ll go! I’ll go”.
This old white-haired warrior used his last opportunity to recruit people for God’s service before being laid to rest.
Beloved, you are alive why not use the opportunity(Church, Ministry, School, Office, Business etc) you have now. You have Pulpit at your disposal to mobilize your members for mission work?- Please go ahead there is Eternal reward for you.
